To assist organizations in optimizing their human resources by providing a means for employees to effectively resolve personal and interpersonal problems through professional psychological services.

 

Our Story

The Solace Consulting Group began as a solo endeavour in 2005, when PAP-certified psychologist Patrick Ong Ante, M.A. established Solace Consulting. Urged on by the dearth of psychological services in corporate organizations, he set out to assist organizations in creating human resources programs that enabled company employees to avail of professional psychological services that included counselling and leadership coaching. By 2006, Solace Consulting helped IBM Daksh, Amkor Technology.  The HR Coaching and Counselling Centre program of IBM Daksh, developed by Patrick, was recognized as one of IBM Daksh Global’s Best Practises and earned Patrick the Consultant of the Year Award in 2007.

 

In 2008, in an effort to expand operations and therefore reach more corporate organizations, Patrick was joined by other like-minded psychologists Lorenzo Lerma, Erwin Lizarondo, Theresa Navarro, and Niel Kintanar. Solace Consulting became the Solace Consulting Group, Inc., an organization whose goal is to help companies institute accessible, responsive, cost-effective, and comprehensive employee assistance programs that will promote employee well-being and enhance overall productivity in the workplace.

Our Core Group

 

Mr. Patrick Ong Ante is the founder and director of Solace Consulting. Upon graduating with a BS Psychology degree from the Ateneo de Manila University, he began his training as a counselor at the Center for Family Ministries and later worked as a guidance counselor and Psychology lecturer at Ateneo de Manila University. After earning his Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Ateneo, Patrick continued to work as an associate counselor for CEFAM, UGAT, RCW Foundation, and Recovery Circle, providing individual, couple, family, and career counseling to clients from various backgrounds and age groups. Patrick also has extensive experience as a resource speaker and trainor in counseling skills development and personal growth enhancement.

Lorenzo Z. Lerma spent years in the corporate world before shifting his focus to the study and practice of counseling. After finishing his degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of the Philippines in 1988, he earned his license as a Certified Public Accountant. He pursued a career in the financial industry and worked as a Systems Analyst for various institutions in the Philippines and in New York, USA. After returning from abroad in the mid-nineties, he has worked as Sales Manager for a marketing firm, been published as a freelance writer, and served as Chief Operating Officer for a Couples-for-Christ-affiliated foundation that provided livelihood opportunities to the inhabitants of Smokey Mountain in Tondo, Manila. He earned his Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Ateneo De Manila University.  He has experience in guidance counseling with the Loyola Schools Guidance Office, psychological assessment with the Center for Behavioral Research and Psychological Services, and counseling employees of BPO’s through Solace Consulting. Mr. Lerma also serves as a member of the part-time faculty of the Ateneo’s Department of Psychology.

Erwin A. Lizarondo graduated with a degree in AB Psychology from De La Salle University in 1998 and enrolled in the Psychology Graduate Program of Ateneo de Manila University. He worked as a College Counselor at Ateneo and finished his post-graduate studies with a degree in Family Counseling. In 2007 he worked as a family counselor at Philippine Children’s Medical Center, providing much-needed assistance to families of terminally-ill patients in hospice care. His work as a counselor has also given him an opportunity to help young adults and young professionals. Currently he works as a College Instructor in General Psychology, and Human Behavior in Organizations. He has considerable work experience in training, publications and institutional assessments projects for Ateneo CORD, the Ramon Magsaysay Awards Foundation, and Ateneo’s Gawad-Kalinga Program on urban poor housing.

Maria Theresa Navarro has been practising psychology since 1997. She earned a degree in BS Psychology from Ateneo de Manila University in 1996 and is currently a Master’s Candidate in Counseling Psychology under the Ateneo Graduate Program. After working as a Training Associate for the Center for Leadership and Change, she joined the Ateneo College Counseling Office where she spent several years counseling students and faculty members, and developing guidance & counseling programs. Theresa also worked as the Pastoral Unit Leader of the Hengrave Community, a socio-civic organization in Suffolk, England. In 2006, she helped set up the Human Resources Department of a medical services organization while continuing her practice as a counselor. She is involved in Recruitment, Training and Development, and Policy Development. Theresa joined Solace Consulting as a Consulting Psychologist in 2007.
